Coldplay
'In My Place'
The new single released 5th August 2002

A dead-certain, cast-iron classic built around descending melatron chords and a gorgeous riff from guitarist Jonny Buckland, 'In My Place' is Coldplay's first UK single since 'Trouble' in October 2000.

Coldplay's debut album, 'Parachutes' (2000), was a collection of direct, soulful, utterly beautiful songs stripped right back to expose the raw emotion underneath. Showing that you don't always have to shout to be heard, it has sold nearly five million copies worldwide, winning a clutch of NME and Q awards, two Brits in 2001 and the Grammy award for Best Alternative Album in 2002.

Produced by the band and Ken Nelson (the same team responsible for 'Parachutes') and recorded at Parr Street Studios in Liverpool and AIR Studios in London, 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head' features eleven new songs. Although still recognisably Coldplay, it's more energetic and uptempo than their debut. Fuelled by a new confidence and instilled with a sense of urgency, Coldplay have delivered an album that surpasses even their own incredibly high standards. With 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head' they have created a masterpiece, this years defining record.

Coldplay will play at the Glastonbury Festival in June and will embark on a full UK tour in the Autumn, dates tbc.
